Is the standing desk trend really worth all the attention it has gotten over the last few years? I’ve been asking myself that question for a long time now since spotting this techie type of work surface on several of my favorite blogs and on Instagram. I know standing while working is a healthier choice in the long run, but I’ve sort of avoided adding one to my own office because I never saw a standing desk that matched our home décor style. That is, until today, as I’m sure you can guess from this story’s post title and photos. I finally found the perfect standing desk for our home, and I’m sharing my full review with you today.

So, this is the VASAGLE standing desk from SONGMICS. You first heard me talk about this home brand when I reviewed their sling chair a couple of weeks ago. Well, fast forward a bit of time and I was offered another chance to team up with them, and I immediately said yes because that chair still is one of my favorite spots to plop into after a hard day. I had high hopes for the standing desk from their collection, and it turns out I was right to have positive instincts here because I love it.

My new desk was very straightforward to put together, which was a relief. I think another one of my main reasons for holding off on trying a standing desk before, aside from aesthetics, was my fear that it would take forever and be super complicated to assemble because of all the electronics involved. Full disclosure: this desk took about an hour and a half to assemble on my own (John helped for about five minutes when I needed to flip the desk), and the instructions were easy to follow along with. My advice is to set aside plenty of time—maybe even break it up into two days, like I did, so it’s really low stress—and take each step one at a time. The assembly process went off without a hitch, and I was sitting at the desk working within no time. In fact, I’m writing this post from the desk right now!

I love, love, love the customization factor of being able to choose my desk height. You can adjust it to the smallest degree with the quick touch of a button, and you can also program in multiple height preferences, so that you just have to push a single button to get the desk to move up to a comfortable standing level. All of the cords are easily hidden, too, thanks to the under-mount cord hook ties that are included with the assembly parts.

Did I mention that there’s a color-changing LED light strip, and that the desk costs under $200?! Yeah, this is the coolest desk I’ve ever owned, and I genuinely couldn’t recommend it more. I’ll be sure to put my new desk through its paces over the next few months, and will update this post if I have any problems, but I don’t anticipate any. If you happen to be reading this story several months (or even years) from now and don’t see an editor’s note, just know that I’m still loving my standing desk, and I’m a firmly converted fan. They really are as cool as people say they are.
