Our primary bedroom has come a long way in the two years that we’ve lived here. We’ve taken down old wallpaper, added paint and limewash treatments above and below the chair rail, replaced the ceiling fan with something a little more modern, and we’ve filled the room with color through art, a rug, and lighting. The one detail that I’ve struggled to get right, though, is the furniture. We have the tall dresser that my dad built for me, and that’s here to stay, of course, but choosing the right bed frame, nightstands, and a low dresser to go along with it has taken more than a couple of attempts. Happily, I think I finally got it right this time.
You may remember that we started out with an upholstered headboard in this room, which was fine when we had our three well behaved older cats, but our new kittens were desperate to rip it to shreds as soon as they arrived home. So we got a wooden set to replace it, but I impulsively chose a dark wood stain not realizing that the rich brown color would make our small bedroom feel even tinier. It was ultimately just too much contrast for our room. Happily, I’m excited to share the latest iteration today, and I think I can safely say that this one is here to stay.
The pieces that you see pictured in today’s post are all from Article’s Lenia collection. I really love the light stain on the wood, which helps give a sense of airiness and spaciousness to our bedroom. The sleek mid-century silhouette on this furniture also speaks right to my retro-loving heart. The details are all so flawless in this collection, aren’t they? See that lovely linear accent on the top of our new Lenia Bed? It’s mimicked on the base of the Lenia Dresser, which you’ll see a couple of photos down. Oh, and the soft close drawers on the dresser also match those on the pair of Lenia Nightstands that I ordered for either side of the bed. I’m smitten with how these pieces “speak” to each other in terms of design, and as you can see below, the light neutral stain on this collection nicely complements the tall cherry wood dresser that my dad built for me.
This time around we were able to upgrade the delivery service to “Inside + Assembly,” which meant that our delivery team unboxed everything, hauled away the trash, and assembled everything in the room based on where we told them to put things. This is worth every single penny in my opinion, especially if you’re getting heavier pieces, like we did, or items that require more involved assembly. I can lift a lot, but that dresser would have been too much for me. It was much safer to let the professionals handle it! We had such a great team, and I made sure to load them up with cold water and snacks on their way out the door as a “thank you” for their hard work.
The look and design of this set is definitely a better fit for our small room, but beyond that we’re really enjoying the updated functionality. John loves the extra drawers in his dresser (nine drawers in total!), and the combination drawer/open display space in the nightstands is awesome for tucking away both pretty and not-so-pretty things. The neutral tones in the furniture really lets our vintage art and rug shine, too. Now our bedroom feels much more balanced and energizing. I think we finally found furniture that’s juuuuuuuust right for us. What do you think? Let me know in the comments, and tell me what you have your eye on from Article below.
