Our Updated Mid-Century Home Tour

Back in the fall I decided that it was time to pick up my semi-annual tradition of having our home photographed by a professional local photographer. If you’ve been following along for a while, then you know I have a habit of hiring someone to document our homes each year. I’ve been doing this since we had a townhouse, and we, of course, kept up the practice in our last retro ranch (you can see past home tours here, here, here, and here). We’ve now been in our current mid-century ranch for two years and have made huge progress on the renovation. I looked around one day recently and thought to myself, “I want to remember this stage of the makeover!”

So, I reached out to a new-to-me local photographer, Alisa Foytik. As you may know, I always try to work with someone new for these photoshoots because I love meeting new creatives and seeing our home shot through a new person’s camera. I spend every single week working behind my own camera, and I know that I limit myself on the angles that I default to. Working with someone new each year gives me the chance to see our space through someone else’s eye, and it always leaves me feeling more inspired.

A lot of our spaces have actually evolved since these photos were taken by Alisa last year, but I still love every detail of the rooms as they stood that day in September. I’m excited to share that Alisa’s work scored us a feature on Apartment Therapy in December, too!
