Introducing the latest upgrade to our sunroom seating setup! Late last month we decided to swap out one of our fabric sofas for the Valencia Zadar Leather Sofa with wide seats. We ordered it in the cognac color because you know I love mixing warm tones in our home, and the naturally rich, earthy color of this leather is the perfect complement to our mid-century wood furniture and existing flooring. I also thought that the contemporary shape really suited the retro aesthetic of our sunroom. What do you think?
I’m always hesitant about ordering leather furniture without testing it in person first, but this sofa has the most luxurious feel, which was confirmed by the sofa’s online reviews. It’s made of Nappa 11000 Top-Grain Leather, and is really soft to the touch. I’m especially impressed by the look and feel of the stitching! The seams are impeccably finished, and I’ve got to call attention to the cool panel detailing on the back of the couch. Since this sofa “floats” in the middle of our sunroom with the back exposed, it was important to pick a couch that looked good from all angles. I think the individually stitched sections of leather on the back of the couch are such a nice focal point when you see the couch from behind. They sort of speak to the vertical paneling detail on the front of our media cabinet off to the side of the room, so the combination looks very intentional to me.
One of my favorite things about leather furniture is that our pets generally leave it alone. I think they don’t really like the feeling of leather under their claws like they do fabric, so they never actively scratch leather. Yes, we get the occasional pinprick from them running across our leather furniture, but those are usually really discreet. To help deter this, though, I ended up laying a faux sheepskin rug across the bench cushions of our new sofa (I’ll show you that look another day). For now, let’s just appreciate the simple, stylish perfection of that brand new uncovered leather, shall we?!
Gladys did such a good job modeling her happy feelings toward the couch, didn’t she? One last design feature that I wanted to call out was the feet on this couch. The angled chrome silhouette looks so edgy and luxurious. We don’t have anything else like it in our home, which makes it feel extra special. It’s those types of unexpected details that really make a room feel considered, interesting, and full of character. Shop the Valencia Zadar Leather Sofa here, and let me know in the comments if you would consider a leather sofa for your home. If you have pets, do you find that they leave your leather upholstery alone for the most part, too?
