To be completely honest…I’m not a big fan of summer. The heat really gets to me, and I feel like there’s all this pressure from society to travel and just generally live a life of excess simply because it’s summertime. I appreciate the encouragement to get outside and enjoy the sunshine, don’t get me wrong—but when my Instagram feed suddenly is full of people taking these elaborate European vacations, it makes me feel sort of small. I much prefer the shift to fall when folks share about how they’re getting cozy and circling the wagons, so to speak, around quality time with friends and family at home. Maybe some of you can relate?
Anyway, point being that this late summer timeframe is actually my favorite. The days aren’t quite so hot, and we have all sorts of fun holiday events on the horizon. I find myself savoring the summer season so much more once we’re on the tail end of it, which is why I wanted to create an extra special roundup of summer-themed home décor in celebration of this transitional time of year. Keep scrolling to peruse my picks for summer-inspired art, furniture, and plant holders.
Retro Inspired Summer Décor Round Up
1. Seascape Framed Wall Art: I love art that features a subtle nod to the coast without being too overt about it.
2. Smoke Green Glass Candle Holders: Sadly, these glass candle holders already sold out by the time this post was scheduled to go live, but I found a similar version here on Etsy. Bonus: they’re designed by an artisan seller!
3. Modern Geometric Outdoor Rug: I have dreams of starting our outdoor patio project this season, and this outdoor rug is a perfect fit for my ultimate vision.
4. Modern Adirondack Chair: This mod take on the classic Adirondack chair shape is right up my alley. I love the sleek lines at the back.
5. Boho Outdoor Throw Pillow Covers (Set of 2): I could see these throw pillows working indoors or out! The tassels give them an elevated look, don’t you think?
6. Claymen Ceramic Planters: I definitely want to do some more indoor gardening before summer winds down, and these cutie planters are inspiring me to cross this to-do off my list ASAP.
7. Mitchell Black Flourish Wallpaper: I know I already wallpapered our entryway, but isn’t this summer floral pattern just so lovely? Pattern is such a fun way to welcome everyone who walks through the front door.
8. Rocio Mushroom Plant Hanger: I love the idea of planting something now so it grows long and lush indoors by the time winter rolls around when I’m sure I’ll be craving summer greenery.
9. Hammock Weave Patio Chair (Set of 2): I’m picturing this pair of retro-inspired chairs on our front porch so I can fully appreciate and savor the end of summer and beginning of fall.
Which item is your favorite from that list? Mine are the Claymen Ceramic Planters and Boho Outdoor Throw Pillow Covers. Both are actually within my (currently meager) home décor budget this season, so I might just have to treat myself. Let me know in the comments what caught your eye, and tell me…Are you a summer lover, or are you just as ready for fall time as I am?
