Reading has always been one of my very favorite hobbies. I remember going to the library as a kid and checking out six to eight books at once, then I’d go home and read one chapter at a time of each book in sequence until I finished them all. It was and still is such an effective way for me to escape reality and go on the types of adventurers that I’m far too timid in real life to have.
This little passion of mine has taken on an entirely new meaning these past few years. Between COVID and disheartening global headlines, I genuinely need to lose myself in a good book in order to stay sane. I’ve started setting reading goals for myself that have gone from something like 15 books to now reading more than 40 each year. It has been such a blast, and with all that reading, of course, comes the excuse to set up cozy reading nooks all over our home where I can cuddle up with a soft blanket and my latest novel.
I wanted to share a look at the most recent reading zone in our home—this time in our guest room. We just added the VASAGLE EKHO Accent Sling Chair to our collection, and it has been perfect during my lazy reading hours in the morning and afternoon. The design of this chair speaks to my love for mid-century shapes, but there’s something also visually transitional about it—meaning it combines a range of styles. It’s sleek and modern yet organic thanks to that exposed stitched detail along the edges of the upholstery, and I also see some industrial flair with that matte black metal frame. Point being that it suits a whole range of aesthetics, no matter which way you lean in your own home.
I love how the “Caramel Brown” synthetic leather looks against our honey stained 1960s hardwood floors, and the dark black elements perfectly complement the vintage bookcase that I styled in the corner of this room. But I didn’t tell you the two greatest parts about this chair! Number one, it’s incredibly comfortable. You sink really deeply into those plush cushions, making it an excellent option for long-term reading. And number two, this chair costs less than $200 (it’s currently listed at $179 on Amazon). I know. Crazy, right?! It was easy to assemble by myself, too, so there’s pretty much no reason why you shouldn’t spring for it for your own home this season.
I don’t know about you, but I’m really anxious to say goodbye to the mental and physical chill of winter, and hello to happy springtime vibes. I crave color and plush textures, warm sunshine, and refreshing moments at home. That, for me, is a good book and a beautiful chair to sink into. What kind of spring décor and activities energize you? Let me know in the comments, and if my DIY reading nook speaks to you and your motivations for the season ahead, you can click here to shop our EKHO Accent Sling Chair for your own home.
