Cooking is still one of my very favorite activities these days, and I’ve also been stepping way outside my comfort zone with recipes. This week we tried our hand at making Coq au Vin to use up a bottle of red wine that we had, and the meal was delicious. I think we even surprised ourselves with how decadent dinner was, and the French recipe wasn’t nearly as tricky as I thought it would be. Having so much new experience lately in the kitchen has given me tons of newfound confidence, which, I think, has made fancy recipes suddenly feel so much more attainable. It has been a blast, and our tummies are extra thankful for this evolving hobby of ours.
One of the most thrilling parts of cooking more is the fact that we now have an excuse to buy new gadgets for our kitchen. John and I just recently added the recently launched Splendor Blender to our collection, and have loved having it to throw together quick sauces, dips, and dressings. This one comes from Our Place, which is a brand you probably have spotted here on my blog if you’ve been following along for any length of time. Our kitchen is filled with Our Place pots, pans, containers, and appliances, and our Splendor Blender is definitely a new favorite.
We had big plans to host a Super Bowl party a couple of weekends ago, but ended up getting sidelined (har, har) by a nasty stomach virus. The party didn’t end up happening, but my party prep did! Before I knew that we wouldn’t be hosting after all, I spent time experimenting with menu options by testing out versions of my own pesto pasta sauce, an Asian-inspired salad dressing, and also homemade hummus.
Everything was so delicious, and I love how the Splendor Blender sped up the process. I made all three recipes in less than 30 minutes. The vessel is plenty big enough for all of the ingredients I needed to use, too, and blended the smoothest finished dips and sauces I’ve personally ever made. It was also really easy to clean just by blending a bit of soapy water in the container when I was finished. Last big selling point for me? I really appreciate that this appliance is made without potentially harmful chemicals like PTFEs, PFOAs, and other PFAS.
But I can’t finish up without talking about those leave-it-on-the-counter-worthy aesthetics. The light orange/pink “Spice” color we chose for our Splendor Blender complements our blue wallpapered walls perfectly, and I love how the desaturated shade of peach pairs with our other favorite Our Place appliance—the Wonder Oven. Click here to shop both appliances, plus all of our everyday cookware and containers. We genuinely use pieces from this collection every single day, and I can’t say enough good things. They’re easy to clean, simplify our cooking routine, and look sooooooo good doing it, too. Which piece do you have your eye on from Our Place?
