Heads up, our hall bathroom is getting another makeover! I made a lot of rash decisions when we first moved into this house, mainly because my mind and body were just so exhausted from the move itself and feeling the need to immediately work on wallpaper removal. After the walls in our hall bathroom were de-wallpapered, patched, filled, primed, and painted, I was just too tired to spend much time on the design. Instead, I picked finishes that I knew I would love, but maybe wouldn’t keep around for the long haul, which leads me to today.
I’m continuing my work with Fancy Walls this year as an ambassador for their wallpaper, and have plans to use one of their patterns to add some much-needed (long-term!) personality to this space. I know I just explained how exhausted I was after removing old wallpaper, and that it might seem counter intuitive to put more wallpaper back up, but this pattern is so much more to our taste and I’m finally controlling the shots here. The plan, by the way, is to just use it on one wall so it’s not quite so overwhelming. I’m excited to see how the new wallpaper helps breathe character into this somewhat boring space. All of my mood board accents are linked below in case you want more details.

I’m sure you’ve heard pro interior designers talk about how a bathroom is the perfect place to go a little wilder with design choices since it’s not a living or sleeping space that you spend a lot of time in, so I’m going to give that concept a try in our home. I think I’ve traditionally played it a little safe with our bathroom spaces. I can’t wait to step a little outside the box with this design. It’s going to be playful, bold, and punchy, while still speaking to that mid-century style we love so much. Let me know what you think of my mood board in the comments and stay tuned later this winter for updates on the room makeover.

I love the color of the walls. Not sure if the cabinets should be painted white.
Thanks! I like the idea of painting the cabinets, but it’s actually not real wood. It’s some kind of plastic, and I’m not sure it would take paint very well…I don’t mind the warmth the cabinets add anyway, though 🙂
