Sharing My 2024 DIY Vision Board

Now, I know I’ve already talked a little bit about my main personal and professional goals for the year (see that post here if you missed it), but today I thought I’d go beyond the written word and get more into my visual outlook for 2024. Vision boarding is sort of a new concept for me. I started doing it a few years ago, and found that I really enjoyed the exercise. If you’re new to this idea, it’s pretty easy: just grab a bunch of magazines, then cut out whatever strikes your fancy. This could be quotes, colors, photos—whatever! And then you paste them onto a piece of paper or cardboard and mount it somewhere so that you can see it every day.

I actually wrote a whole blog post on how to create your own DIY vision board if you’d like more details, but the process really is as simple as I just explained above. This year was a lot of fun because I feel myself drawn toward lots more color and action than I have in years past. The photos in today’s post show the 2024 vision board that I created over my holiday break, and you’ll probably pick up on the fact that it includes quite a bit of energizing, big dreams.

To give you a brief map or overview of my vision board and its meaning, I made sure to include quite a few quotes that speak to my frame of mind for the new year—things like “It’s time to create, savor, breathe easy,” “Wild, wild nest” (you know I’m a homebody at heart, and I don’t plan to change that anytime soon), “Flow state” to act as a motivator for getting good creative work done, and a hopeful message that reads “revealing something big” because I’m always on the hunt for my next big idea. I have no idea what that big idea will be, but I’m confident that it’s somewhere on the horizon just waiting for a lightbulb moment to happen.

I also focused on a general color palette of sunny hues, like dusty rose, marigold, and light minty blue. These are the colors that have drawn me in lately, and I’m planning on incorporating them into our home and my wardrobe throughout the new year. You’ll also see lots of books throughout my vision board to represent my continued commitment to reading, food because I love to cook and want to try new things, plus some self-care-focused photos, like indulgent skincare and a spa-like bathtub setting. I did make sure to incorporate photos of designed rooms, both inside and out, that inspire me to make intentional changes around our own home—this is my job after all! Speaking of, outdoor renovating is going to be a big focus for me, I think, in 2024.

Oh, by the way, as a special bonus, I’m also including a look at my sister’s vision board below since her’s was so different in comparison to mine. She is traditionally more of a minimalist, and the design of her board reflects that. I love how it turned out, though, especially the cut out details, so I’m including it for those of you who need inspiration for something a little less chaotic than my heavily collaged board.

If my calculations are correct, there are 329 days left in the new year, which leaves plenty of time for us to buckle down and get going on our big hopes, dreams, and goals for 2024.
