Late last year I started the process of putting together roundups that would help you guys get the look of each room in our home. I wanted to do this because I get asked fairly regularly on Instagram where to buy certain items, and I hate having to respond with a quick, “I’m so sorry! It’s vintage!”
So, the idea of putting together these roundups is for those of you who don’t have the time or budget to spend at antique stores on authentic mid-century furniture. We actually have a mix of “real” and “reproduction” pieces in our own home, but these linked lists are an easier way for you to skip the process of curating over time so you can get the look right away.
Today, it’s all about our lower level family room lounge. You can take the full tour of this room (as well as the rest of our home!) over here, but essentially our family room is built around ultra low furnishings that help welcome a good long lounge. We want people to come into the room and basically just flop anywhere they want to!
You can get the same vibes by shopping any of the pieces I’ve pulled together below from AllModern, which is one of my favorite places online to look for mid-century accents that don’t cost an arm and a leg (but are still well-made). We have a bunch of AllModern pieces throughout our house, and I’m happy to report that they hold up well to our family—possibly even better than our expensive 1960s antiques!
Click the links below to get the look of our family room lounge, and let me know in the comments which of the rooms in our house you’d like to see rounded up next. If you missed the first post in this series (my mid-century-inspired home office!) click back here for that.
