Apologies for the late post, but it was for a very special reason…It’s time to reveal our newly updated 2017 home tour! This story has been another year in the making, and I couldn’t be more honored to work with Apartment Therapy and Carrie Coleman to debut the brand new photos of our space.
Once a year, I enlist the help of a professional photographer to come in and document each of the rooms in our house. It’s my way of seeing just how far we’ve come with our renovations and DIY projects, because—let’s face it—sometimes it’s hard to really see all of the hard work you’ve done when you look at everything day in and day out. Being able to compare angles of each room one year later is hugely validating, and it’s a fun way to see just how often I change things over the course of 365 days (to see what I mean, take this year’s tour, and then go back and look at last year’s—it’s pretty different, huh?!).
This time I teamed up with Charlottesville wedding photographer, Carrie Coleman, and even though we met for the very first time on the day of the shoot, it felt like we were old pals as we wandered from room to room together. I just love the soft look of her photos—don’t you?
Another reason why I love to team up with a pro photographer to shoot my annual home tour is because I find it so intriguing to look at our home through another photographer’s lens. If you click to the feature over on Apartment Therapy (or the updated home tour page here on Dream Green DIY, which shows a ton of extra photos), you’ll probably see a lot of angles and vantage points that I don’t often showcase with my own camera. It’s a really cool perspective that I value so much.
You can take the full tour here, see my feature and interview over on Apartment Therapy right here, and you can actually watch our home tour in motion by clicking “play” on the YouTube video I filmed below. Thanks for following along with me for another fun year, and I can’t wait to see what changes we make to our 1960’s A-frame ranch by the time 2018 rolls around!

I love your house! Where did you get your tv stand, you said from Home Depot, do you have a link? I like how your cat knocked over the plant lol, we have five cats so I can relate to kitties knocking over stuff.
Thank you so much!! Sure! You can purchase the stand here via Home Depot. Glad you got a kick out of the up-turned plant, haha!
“The man in the photo” you have by your TV, that’s Roger Moore as James Bond. Very cool! Love your house.
Yup! We love that photo 🙂 Thanks for the comment and kind words!
Carrie your home is so gorgeous! I love all the thoughtful details. And your “other” Carrie’s photos are just dreamy! <3
Thank you so much, Marlene!! You’re so sweet 🙂
