Well, it’s official! As of yesterday, I’m 30 years old, and ready to take this brand new decade right by the horns. I am excited to turn over a new leaf, as they say, in my 30’s and hope to make lots of really big memories and experience some spontaneous milestones, too. Although there’s absolutely no telling what I’ll ultimately get up to as a 30-something, here’s a list of a few of the things I hope to make happen before I turn 40. Who’s with me?!
- Travel to Europe
- Establish a good workout routine
- Continue my vegetarian diet
- Go back to school for something
- Throw more real parties (as opposed to faux ones for the blog)
- Take a cruise
- Learn French over again
- Make new friends
- Take more walks
- Take a pottery class
- Come up with THE BIG IDEA
- Take horseback riding lessons again
- Learn how to sew
- Find my signature scent
- Take better care of my skin
- Go to the top of the Empire State Building
- Go to more movies by myself
- Take up gardening
- Draw more
- Learn woodworking
- Ride my bike more
- Take a painting class
- Get more into politics
- Go to more concerts
- Get in front of the camera more often
- Figure out what the stock market actually is
- Shop less
- Save more
- Spend more time by the river with John
- Send more letters and cards
What are a few of the things on your bucket list for the next 10 years? And, my fellow 30-somethings: what are you hoping to accomplish before turning the big 4-0? I’d really love to know, so leave a comment below, and maybe (just maybe!) I’ll add it to my list, too.
P.S. Have you entered to win $75 to Mixbook yet? Today’s the last day, so click here for instructions on how to enter the contest!
Happy belated birthday, Carrie! I definitely share a lot of your to-do list items! 🙂
Thank you so much, Lindsay!! 🙂
So curious about what “the big idea” might be. What do you mean by that?
Don’t know yet!! I just mean that I hope to come up with “the big idea” of my career in the next decade—I don’t know what that will be 🙂
At age 24, I earned a masters degree and $93k in student loans. Almost ten years later, I’ve paid back nearly half of that. So my goal for my 40th birthday is for the loan to be 100% paid off and be student-loan-free!
WOW! It’s incredible that you’ve been able to pay that much down already. You’re a super star, and I’m so excited for you to celebrate being student-loan-free by the time you’re 40!
