sad
When I work up a gallery wall in our home (something that seems to occur weekly) I hardly ever go out and buy new art. I usually use what we have lying around, even going so far as to frame pretty pages or ads from a magazine. In honor of that use-what-I-have tradition, I’ve rounded up 6 simple and, more importantly, cheap art projects that we could all attempt to tackle this holiday weekend. Got any of your own go-to DIY art projects? Do tell in the comments section!
Go Abstract:
The next time you get a 40% off coupon to the craft store, use it to buy a big canvas. Then take a big paint brush and some black acrylic paint to it. It’s almost impossible to mess up abstract, but feel free to run a Google search and use classics (like these) as guides – it works for me! (via Simply Seductive)
Taped Archway:
Cut your favorite washi tape into small strips and stick in rows to the inside of an archway to add a bit of spunk and color. For even more interest, try using patterned tape too. (via A Beautiful Mess)
Framed Lullaby:
I adore the idea of framing printed music! From lullabies to “your song,” you can’t get much more personalized (or cheap) than that. (via Project Nursery)
String Art:
A hammer, a handful of nails, some string and some wood – That’s all you need to make this weekend art project a reality. Your guests will be swooning, and I think that, whenever you walk by, you will be too! (via Green Wedding Shoes)
Cubicle Garland:
Cubicles are probably THE most difficult design challenge I’ve ever come across. Hanging a fun garland though, like the DIY tassled one above, is a sure fire way to impress your colleagues. (via The Everygirl)
Brick Stamp:
We’ve talked about string and nails, but we can’t leave out string and bricks! How innovative and simple. I think I may have found this year’s customized Christmas wrapping paper project… (via whip up)
P.S. Don’t forget to enter my Pretty Smitten giveaway! There’s still time to get your name in the virtual hat for three chances to win a “Hello Darling” print like the one in my (latest) gallery wall…
P.P.S. I’m taking part in a group yard sale tomorrow! If you’re local and want to stop by, message me and I’ll send along the address. Got lots of craft projects, supplies, books and frames that need a new home…
