Have you guys heard of Olive Box? If not, don’t worry. I’m here to tell the story of an incredible brand that encourages a modern throw back to the good ol’ days – One box at a time.
Although I’m sure so many of us APPRECIATE the art of paper gifts and, for lack of better phrase, snail mail, I feel like we’ve collectively turned our backs on the practice because of the ease of technology and an internet connection. Olive Box seeks to gently push us back in the direction we started in, offering a surprise collection of sentimental, thoughtful and BEAUTIFUL paper products each month to subscribers. Olive Box celebrates the once withering art with each and every print, card and book they pass along, and I whole-heartedly support their crusade. (Learn more about the mission and concept here.)
I signed up for the service about a month ago as a gift to myself for getting my new job. I got my very first shipment over the weekend and I was beyond excited to rip it open and tear into the tissue-wrapped goodies inside. SOMEHOW though, I was able to restrain myself and document the entire thing on camera as I opened it so that you guys could get the first hand experience as well.
On top of the tissue paper lay a little note card and a check list encouraging me to write down what inspired me this month. As to the note in the yellow envelope, it was a sweet reminder of what should be the focus this month – Offering thanks and seeking comfort. I don’t know about you, but I plan on doing both this short holiday week…
And now for the moment of truth…
As soon as I laid eyes on that print, I knew I had made a wise decision when I signed up for Olive Box. My perfect combo of rustic and contemporary, I wasn’t able to wait more than an hour before hanging it behind glass in our home (more on that Wednesday).
As the enclosed postcard on the underside of the print explained, the artist behind the work is Lisa Congdon. I just now followed her link and was frankly blown away. My new print via Olive Box is just the beginning of what is sure to be a bigger collection. I had to share just a few pieces from Lisa’s portfolio…
Are you as wow-ed as I am?
But the print wasn’t the only gift in the box – Nestled beneath it was a small, twine-wrapped collection of postcards. There were two designs included, one a quiet forest scene and the other a city park – Both via Quill & Fox.
P.S. I just hopped over to their site/blog too and was again blown away! Their Christmas line is a must see…I guarantee that this brand will be showing up on my 2012 Christmas gift guide, which should release in the first week or two of December.
And last, but NEVER least, this really quite amazing set of wooden pencils. How they made that happen, I’ll never know – Magic. I’m kind of in love with how they look in the pencil mug on my desk.
Overall, Olive Box killed it (in a good great way!) this month. I can’t wait to see what’s in next month’s little brown box.
Oh, and in case you were wondering, I’m not being paid or given any kind of incentive to type up this here post. Sometimes, there are brands and products that you can’t HELP but scream about from the rooftops – This is easily one of them.
Cheers to paper, prints and postal mail!!
