Welcome to DreamGreenDIY! I’m Carrie and this is my boyfriend, John.
I graduated a couple of years ago from an east coast school with a Bachelor’s degree in studio art and art history. After spending hours and hours and hours in a studio, sometimes studying one paint color at a time (okay, maybe that’s an exaggeration…), I walked away with a deep appreciation for all things colorful and appealing to the eye.
In the beginning of our relationship, it didn’t take long for me to fall pretty hard for John (and his house). Between our matching OCD tendencies and the fact that we both cave under any visual pressure from vintage, mid-century furniture/art, we were pretty much MFEO (cue gushing from all my fellow Sleepless in Seattle fans).
The fact that his townhouse was pretty much screaming for a live-in female touch didn’t hurt things either (complete with an ENTIRE ROOM empty and waiting for my art studio to move in). While initially, I would say that I was more the brains of the operation, John has taken on more and more of the idea-production (and veto rights) of our home redo. We are turning his bachelor pad into a show-stopper one room at a time.
Okay, so I have a confession to make…
I don’t live there yet.
But don’t turn your backs on us yet for hiding that small large detail! The plans are imminent and in the works. Plus, just think! You’ll get to witness all of the crazy move-in drama that is sure to unfold in the coming months. Not exactly looking forward to that part myself…
I digress. This blog is (for now) a way to keep friends and family updated on our changes. It’s a bit of an afterthought now that we’re knee- (and arm-) deep in paint chip colors and ideas for light fixtures and vintage 1960s furniture. But I’ll do my best to backtrack in the next few posts to the beginning so that you can get a handle on all that we’ve accomplished to-date.
